
The Greater Laingsburg Recyclers are thrilled to announce the launch of our FREE Community Food Waste Drop-Off Program! All communities are welcome to participate!
Starting Saturday, April 26, 2025, you’ll be able to drop off food scraps at all GLR recycling drives to help reduce landfill waste and improve soil health. All collected food waste will go to a certified facility to be turned into compost.
What Can You Compost? Fruits & veggies (remove produce stickers) Dairy products Tea bags, coffee grounds & filters Bread & grains Napkins & paper towels Meat & bones Grease Eggshells BPI-certified compostable products
How to ParticipateSign up for the food waste drop-off program at any recycling drive or by email!
If you need a compost starter kit, GLR will be giving away free kits (compost bins + 4 bags) to the first 25 people who sign up during the April 12th & April 15th recycling drives. After that, kits will be available for $5 each.
Important Reminder: You can drop off food waste in BPI-certified compostable bags, brown paper bags, wrapped in newspaper, or loose.
