Monthly food drives added to recycling schedule.

The Greater Laingsburg Recyclers (GLR) are excited to announce an ongoing collaboration with Red Thunder Robotics #7166 to host a monthly food drive in conjunction with GLR’s fourth Saturday of the month recycling drive.

Beginning Saturday, March 28th, community members are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Laingsburg Area Food Bank while attending the GLR recycling drive. The combined food and recycling drives will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month.

This partnership was inspired by an idea from members of the local high school robotics team, Red Thunder Robotics, who were excited to expand their impact in the community. By combining environmental stewardship with food assistance, the collaboration aims to make it easy for residents to give back in multiple ways during a single visit.

The monthly drives will be staffed by dedicated GLR volunteers alongside a rotating crew of Red Thunder Robotics students, creating a unique, community-driven effort. Community members are encouraged to participate by bringing canned goods or other non-perishable items to donate while recycling.
